THE APPLICATION CAN BE SUBMITTED:

  • At the Slovak diplomatic mission accredited to the country of which the applicant is a citizen, or
    • At the Slovak diplomatic mission accredited to the country of residence of the applicant, or
    • At the immigration police, if the applicant is staying in Slovakia based on a valid residence permit in Slovakia or in another EU member state, a granted permit for authorized stay, a Schengen visa for seasonal employment, a national visa, if no visa is required, or if the applicant is a holder of a certificate of a Slovak living abroad.
    • When submitting the application at a diplomatic mission, the diplomatic mission conducts a personal interview with the applicant to preliminarily review the application.

Depositphotos 656973094 S■ At the time of submitting the application, documents must be no older than 90 days (with the exception of confirmation from a government authority or organization administering a program approved by the Slovak government, EU programs, or an international agreement).
■ Official documents issued abroad must be officially certified (apostilled/consular legalization).
• Documents issued in a language other than Slovak must be translated into Slovak by a court-certified translator registered in the Register of Experts and Translators of the Ministry of Justice of Slovakia. link
■ Signatures on applications, powers of attorney, and lease agreements must be notarized (except for powers of attorney and statements signed at the immigration police).
■ Copies of documents must be notarized.
■ We recommend not submitting originals of important documents (e.g., diploma, lease agreement); instead, submit notarized copies to the immigration police or diplomatic mission, and keep the originals.
• Administrative fees at the immigration police are paid via fiscal stamps ("koloky"), which can be purchased directly at the immigration office (self-service machine) or at the post office.
• At Slovak diplomatic missions abroad, administrative fees can be paid in cash, by bank card, or by bank transfer (it is advisable to confirm the payment method at the relevant Slovak diplomatic mission).
■ A decision will be made within 30 days from the submission of the complete set of documents.
• Submission of the full application package for a residence permit grants the applicant the right to:

  • Stay in Slovakia until the decision is made;
  • Pursue the purpose for which the residence permit is being requested, provided the applicant has fulfilled the obligation to notify the immigration police of the start of their stay within three working days of entering the territory of the Slovak Republic.

OBLIGATIONS AFTER OBTAINING A TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT:

  • Arrive in Slovakia within 180 days from the date of receiving the permit.
    • Notify the immigration police about the start of your stay within 3 working days of arriving in Slovakia.
    • Conclude a medical insurance contract no later than 3 working days from the moment of receiving the residence permit card.
    • Provide the immigration police with proof of medical insurance within 30 days of receiving the residence permit card.
    • Provide the immigration police with a medical certificate no older than 30 days, confirming the absence of any diseases dangerous to public health, within 30 days of receiving the residence permit card.
    • Stay in Slovakia for more than half of the duration of the granted temporary residence permit in a calendar year.
    • Notify the immigration police in writing if you plan to stay continuously outside the territory of the Slovak Republic for more than 180 days.
